Artist Info
Maria Degl'innocenti was born on May 12, 1985, in Florence, Italy. She was born into a family of musicians, and her parents were both professional classical musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Maria showed a natural talent for music, and her parents encouraged her to pursue a career in classical music. Maria began her musical education at the age of four, when she started taking piano lessons with her mother. She quickly progressed, and by the age of six, she was already performing in public. At the age of eight, she started studying the violin, and she soon became proficient on both instruments. In 1995, Maria won her first major competition, the International Piano Competition in Florence. This was a significant achievement for someone so young, and it marked the beginning of her career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, Maria continued to win competitions and perform in public, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles. In 2001, Maria was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. This was a major milestone in her career, as Juilliard is widely regarded as one of the best music schools in the world. While at Juilliard, Maria studied under some of the most renowned classical musicians of the time, including Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma. During her time at Juilliard, Maria continued to perform in public, both in the United States and abroad. She also won several major competitions, including the International Violin Competition in Paris in 2003 and the International Piano Competition in Moscow in 2005. In 2007, Maria graduated from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Music degree. She immediately began performing professionally, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles. She also started teaching, and she quickly gained a reputation as an excellent teacher. Over the next few years, Maria continued to perform and teach, and she also started to record her music. Her recordings were well-received by critics and audiences alike, and they helped to establish her as one of the leading classical musicians of her generation. In 2012, Maria won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. This was a major achievement, as the grant is awarded to only a handful of young musicians each year. The grant provided Maria with financial support and helped to raise her profile even further. In 2015, Maria released her first solo album, which was titled "Bach: The Complete Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin." The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Maria as one of the leading interpreters of Bach's music. In 2018, Maria was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms. This was a major honor, as the BBC Proms is one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. Maria's performance was widely praised, and it helped to cement her reputation as one of the leading classical musicians of her generation. Today, Maria continues to perform and teach, and she is widely regarded as one of the most talented and accomplished classical musicians of her time. Her dedication to her craft and her passion for music have made her a role model for young musicians around the world, and she continues to inspire and delight audiences with her performances.More....
