Susanna Ogata is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and baroque violinist. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1978, and grew up in the United States. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue music from a young age. Ogata began playing the violin when she was just three years old, and by the time she was six, she was already performing in public. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She then went on to earn her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City. Throughout her career, Ogata has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. She has been a member of the Handel and Haydn Society since 2005, and has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's, among others. One of the highlights of Ogata's career was her performance of Bach's complete sonatas and partitas for solo violin at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. In addition to her work as a performer, Ogata is also a dedicated teacher. She is currently a professor of violin at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she has been on the faculty since 2005. She has also taught at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Boston Conservatory.
