Susanna Ogata is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and baroque violinist. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1978, and grew up in the United States. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue music from a young age. Ogata began playing the violin when she was just three years old, and by the time she was six, she was already performing in public. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She then went on to earn her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City. Throughout her career, Ogata has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. She has been a member of the Handel and Haydn Society since 2005, and has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's, among others. One of the highlights of Ogata's career was her performance of Bach's complete sonatas and partitas for solo violin at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The performance was a marathon event, lasting over four hours, and was met with critical acclaim. The Boston Globe called it "a triumph of artistry and endurance." Ogata has also been recognized for her work as a baroque violinist. In 2011, she was awarded the prestigious Erwin Bodky Award from the Cambridge Society for Early Music, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of early music performance. She has also been a guest artist at the Boston Early Music Festival, one of the largest and most respected early music festivals in the world. In addition to her work as a performer, Ogata is also a dedicated teacher. She is currently a professor of violin at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she has been on the faculty since 2005. She has also taught at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Boston Conservatory. Ogata's dedication to her craft and her passion for music have made her one of the most respected and sought-after classical music artists of her generation. Her performances are marked by a deep understanding of the music she plays, and a commitment to bringing that music to life for her audiences. Whether performing solo or as part of an ensemble, Ogata's artistry is always on display, and her performances are not to be missed.
