Raymonde Notti was a French classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1922, in Marseille, France. She was the daughter of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Her father taught her to play the piano at a young age, and she quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Notti's musical education continued at the Marseille Conservatory, where she studied under the renowned pianist and composer Henri Tomasi. She quickly distinguished herself as a talented pianist, winning several awards and competitions during her time at the conservatory. After completing her studies, Notti began performing professionally, giving concerts throughout France and Europe. She quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and passionate performer, known for her technical proficiency and emotional depth. One of Notti's most notable performances came in 1955, when she performed at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She was the first French pianist to compete in the event, and her performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 earned her a second prize. Notti continued to perform and record throughout the 1950s and 1960s, earning critical acclaim for her interpretations of works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Debussy. She also became known for her collaborations with other musicians, including the conductor Charles Munch and the violinist Christian Ferras. In 1970, Notti was awarded the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors, in recognition of her contributions to the arts. She continued to perform and record throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and in 1989 she was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for her recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. Notti's career was cut short by her death on December 23, 1998, at the age of 76.
