Role:ComposerBirth:1992 in Tbilisi, GeorgiaNicolas Namoradze is a Georgian-American pianist and composer who has been praised for his virtuosic technique and musical sensitivity. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1992, Namoradze began playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. His parents, both musicians themselves, recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. At the age of ten, Namoradze moved with his family to Budapest, Hungary, where he continued his musical studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. He studied with renowned pianists such as György Kurtág and Ferenc Rados, and also took composition lessons with Zoltán Jeney. During this time, Namoradze won several prizes in international piano competitions, including the International Chopin Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Szafarnia, Poland, and the International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede, Netherlands. In 2010, Namoradze moved to the United States to attend the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Robert McDonald and Emanuel Ax. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2014 and his Master of Music degree in 2016, both with highest honors. During his time at Juilliard, Namoradze won several awards, including the Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship and the Arthur Rubinstein Prize. Namoradze has performed as a soloist with many orchestras around the world, including the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Juilliard Orchestra. He has also given recitals in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonie. In 2018, Namoradze made his debut at the Ravinia Festival, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop. In addition to his performing career, Namoradze is also an accomplished composer. His works have been performed by the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, and the Juilliard Orchestra, among others. In 2018, he was commissioned by the Ravinia Festival to write a new work for piano and orchestra, which he premiered with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Namoradze's playing has been praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. The New York Times has called him a "pianist of deep musicality" and praised his "impressive clarity and precision." The Washington Post has described his playing as "dazzling" and "virtuosic," while the Chicago Tribune has called him a "pianist of uncommon sensitivity and intelligence." Namoradze continues to perform and compose, and is considered one of the most promising young musicians of his generation. His recordings include a solo album of works by Liszt, Schumann, and Ligeti, as well as a recording of his own compositions. He is also a dedicated teacher, and has given masterclasses at institutions such as the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.More....
