Bibiana Nwobilo is a Nigerian classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the music industry. She was born on the 12th of June, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria. From a young age, Bibiana showed a keen interest in music, and her parents encouraged her to pursue her passion. Bibiana began her music education at the age of six when she started taking piano lessons. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and progressed rapidly. By the age of ten, she had already won several local competitions and was performing at various events in Lagos. In 2002, Bibiana was awarded a scholarship to attend the MUSON School of Music in Lagos. This was a turning point in her career as it gave her the opportunity to study music theory, history, and performance in a more structured environment. She excelled in her studies and was soon performing in concerts and recitals organized by the school. In 2006, Bibiana was awarded another scholarship to attend the Royal College of Music in London, UK. This was a dream come true for her as she had always wanted to study music in Europe. At the Royal College of Music, Bibiana studied under some of the world's most renowned music teachers, including John Lill, Vanessa Latarche, and Ian Jones. During her time at the Royal College of Music, Bibiana participated in several competitions and won numerous awards. In 2008, she won the prestigious Chappell Medal Piano Competition, which is awarded to the best pianist in the college. She also won the Harold Craxton Prize for Accompaniment in 2009 and the Kendall Taylor Beethoven Prize in 2010. After completing her studies at the Royal College of Music, Bibiana returned to Nigeria and began performing professionally. She quickly established herself as one of the country's leading classical music artists and was in high demand for concerts and recitals. In 2012, Bibiana was invited to perform at the Lagos Jazz Series, which is one of the biggest music festivals in Nigeria. Her performance was a huge success, and she received rave reviews from both the audience and the critics. This performance helped to raise her profile even further, and she was soon invited to perform at other major events in Nigeria and across Africa. In 2014, Bibiana was awarded the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) for her contribution to the development of classical music in Nigeria. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Nigerian citizen, and it was a testament to Bibiana's hard work and dedication to her craft. In 2016, Bibiana released her debut album, "Classical Reflections," which featured some of her favorite classical pieces. The album was well-received by both the public and the critics and helped to cement her position as one of Nigeria's leading classical music artists. In 2018, Bibiana was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms. This was a huge honor for her, and she was thrilled to be performing on one of the world's most prestigious stages. Her performance was a huge success, and she received a standing ovation from the audience. Bibiana continues to perform and record music, and she is passionate about promoting classical music in Nigeria and across Africa.
