Charlotte Schäfer was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Charlotte showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Charlotte's talent was quickly recognized, and she began performing in public at the age of six. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. Throughout her career, Charlotte has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with many famous conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Zubin Mehta. One of Charlotte's most notable performances was at the 2008 BBC Proms, where she performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing Charlotte's playing as "exquisite" and "heartfelt." In addition to her performances as a soloist, Charlotte is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with many renowned ensembles, including the Artemis Quartet and the Berlin Philharmonic Octet. Charlotte has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2006, she won first prize at the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, and in 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. She has also been a recipient of the German Music Competition Prize and the Berliner Kunstpreis. Despite her success, Charlotte remains dedicated to her craft and continues to push herself to new heights. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she plays. In addition to her performing career, Charlotte is also a passionate educator. She has taught masterclasses at many prestigious institutions, including the Juilliard School and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
