Leonid Roschko was born on May 15, 1985, in Kiev, Ukraine. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Leonid showed a great interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. At the age of six, Leonid began taking piano lessons with his mother. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument, and his parents decided to enroll him in a music school. Leonid attended the Kiev Special Music School, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Valery Kozlov. During his time at the music school, Leonid participated in numerous competitions and concerts. He won several awards, including first prize at the International Piano Competition in Kiev in 1997. He also performed with the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. After completing his studies at the music school, Leonid went on to study at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. He continued to excel in his studies and won several awards, including first prize at the International Piano Competition in Moscow in 2005. In 2006, Leonid moved to the United States to further his studies. He enrolled at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Emanuel Ax. During his time at Juilliard, Leonid continued to win awards and accolades, including first prize at the International Piano Competition in New York in 2008. After completing his studies at Juilliard, Leonid began performing professionally. He has performed with numerous orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Leonid's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He is known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music he plays, and his performances are often described as mesmerizing and captivating. In addition to his performing career, Leonid is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at several music schools and universities around the world, including the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Throughout his career, Leonid has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in music. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Young Artist Award and the Arthur Rubinstein Prize. Leonid continues to perform and teach around the world, and he is widely regarded as one of the most talented and promising pianists of his generation.
