Born in 1977 in Los Angeles, California, Warnaar grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. His father was a professional trumpet player, and his mother was a pianist and music teacher. Warnaar began playing the trumpet at the age of eight and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with some of the best trumpet teachers in the country, including David Washburn and Malcolm McNab. He also attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where he honed his skills as a musician. After graduating from high school, Warnaar attended the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance. While at USC, he studied with renowned trumpet player and teacher Boyde Hood. After completing his undergraduate studies, Warnaar continued his education at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance. While at Michigan, he studied with William Campbell, a former principal trumpet player with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. After completing his studies, Warnaar began his professional career as a trumpet player, performing with some of the top orchestras in the country. He has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. In addition to his work as a trumpet player, Warnaar is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He has written music for a variety of ensembles, including orchestras, wind ensembles, and brass quintets. His compositions have been performed by some of the top orchestras in the country, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Warnaar's work as a composer and arranger has earned him numerous awards and accolades. In 2005, he won the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award for his composition "Fanfare for the Uncommon Man." In 2010, he won the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award for Female Composers for his composition "Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman." In addition to his work as a performer and composer, Warnaar is also a dedicated music educator. He has taught at a number of institutions, including the University of Michigan, the University of Southern California, and the Colburn School in Los Angeles. Throughout his career, Warnaar has been committed to promoting classical music and expanding its reach to new audiences. He has collaborated with a number of artists from different genres, including jazz pianist Herbie Hancock and rock band Radiohead. He has also performed at a number of non-traditional venues, including the Hollywood Bowl and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. In 2015, Warnaar released his debut album, "Fanfare for the Uncommon Man: The Trumpet Works of Brad Warnaar." The album features a collection of his original compositions and arrangements, performed by some of the top trumpet players in the country.
