Quatuor Viotti is a renowned classical music quartet that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over two decades. The quartet comprises four talented musicians, namely, Laurent Albrecht Breuninger (violin), Nikita Boriso-Glebsky (violin), Miguel da Silva (viola), and François Salque (cello). The quartet was formed in 1994 and has since then established itself as one of the most sought-after classical music ensembles in the world. The quartet is named after Giovanni Battista Viotti, an Italian violinist and composer who lived in the 18th century. Viotti was known for his virtuosity and his contributions to the development of the violin as a solo instrument. The members of Quatuor Viotti chose to name their quartet after Viotti as a tribute to his legacy and his influence on classical music. Laurent Albrecht Breuninger, the first violinist of the quartet, was born in Germany in 1979. He began playing the violin at the age of four and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Breuninger has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and the International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais. He has also performed as a soloist with many renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, the second violinist of the quartet, was born in Russia in 1986. He began playing the violin at the age of five and went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory. Boriso-Glebsky has won several international competitions, including the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition and the International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition. He has also performed as a soloist with many prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Miguel da Silva, the violist of the quartet, was born in Portugal in 1960. He began playing the viola at the age of nine and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Da Silva has won several awards and competitions, including the International Viola Competition of Munich and the International Chamber Music Competition of Evian. He has also performed as a soloist with many renowned orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. François Salque, the cellist of the quartet, was born in France in 1977. He began playing the cello at the age of four and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Salque has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition and the International Rostropovich Cello Competition. He has also performed as a soloist with many prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. Quatuor Viotti made their debut in 1994 at the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. Since then, they have performed at many prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Salzburg Festival. They have also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Maxim Vengerov.
