Andreas Winkler was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Andreas showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Andreas was enrolled in the Vienna Boys' Choir, where he received extensive training in music theory and vocal performance. He also began studying the violin and the cello, and by the age of ten, he had already performed in several concerts with the choir. At the age of twelve, Andreas decided to focus on the piano and began studying under the tutelage of his father. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began performing in public concerts. In 1999, he won first prize in the Austrian National Piano Competition for Young Musicians, which marked the beginning of his professional career. Andreas continued his studies at the Vienna Conservatory of Music, where he received a degree in piano performance. During his time at the conservatory, he was mentored by several renowned pianists, including Alfred Brendel and András Schiff. In 2007, Andreas made his debut as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Andreas was praised for his technical skill and musical interpretation. Over the years, Andreas has performed with several major orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. One of Andreas's most notable performances was his rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012. The performance was recorded and released as a live album, which received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy Award. In addition to his work as a soloist, Andreas is also an accomplished chamber musician.
