Mario Angelov is a Bulgarian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 22, 1989, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Angelov showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was enrolled in the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where he received his formal training in classical piano. Angelov's talent was quickly recognized by his teachers, and he began participating in national and international competitions at a young age. In 2003, he won first prize at the International Competition for Young Pianists in Varna, Bulgaria, and in 2004, he won first prize at the International Competition for Young Musicians in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2005, Angelov was accepted into the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where he continued his studies under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Prof. Milena Mollova. During his time at the academy, Angelov participated in numerous masterclasses with world-renowned pianists such as Boris Berman, Peter Donohoe, and Jerome Rose. Angelov's talent and hard work paid off when he won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Cantu" in Italy in 2008. This was a major milestone in his career, as it marked his first international competition win and brought him to the attention of the classical music world. Following his success in Italy, Angelov began performing extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. He has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Angelov's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He is known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music he plays, and his interpretations are often described as insightful and profound. He has a particular affinity for the music of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, and has recorded several albums featuring their works. In addition to his performing career, Angelov is also a dedicated teacher and mentor.
