Amor Artis Chorale is a classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their beautiful choral performances for over 40 years. The group was founded in 1977 by Johannes Somary, a renowned conductor and music educator, and has since become one of the most respected choral ensembles in the United States. The birth of Amor Artis Chorale can be traced back to Johannes Somary's desire to create a professional-level choral ensemble that would perform a wide range of repertoire, from early music to contemporary works. Somary, who had previously conducted the New York Choral Society and the American Boychoir, assembled a group of talented singers from the New York City area and began rehearsing in the fall of 1977. The group's first performance was in December of that year, when they presented a program of Christmas music at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan. The concert was a resounding success, and Amor Artis Chorale quickly gained a reputation for their impeccable musicianship and beautiful sound. Over the years, Amor Artis Chorale has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. One of the highlights of Amor Artis Chorale's career was their performance of Bach's Mass in B Minor at Carnegie Hall in 1990.
