Gabe Globus-Hoenich is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a percussionist and composer. Born in 1989 in New York City, Gabe grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. His father, a jazz pianist, and his mother, a classical pianist, instilled in him a love for music that would shape his life and career. Gabe began playing the drums at the age of six and quickly developed a passion for percussion. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division and later attended the Juilliard School, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance. During his time at Juilliard, Gabe studied with some of the most renowned percussionists in the world, including Daniel Druckman, Joseph Pereira, and Markus Rhoten. After graduating from Juilliard, Gabe began his career as a professional musician, performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. He has played with the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also performed with contemporary music ensembles such as Alarm Will Sound and the International Contemporary Ensemble. In addition to his work as a percussionist, Gabe is also an accomplished composer. He has written music for a variety of ensembles, including chamber groups, orchestras, and soloists. His compositions have been performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center, and have been featured on recordings by the Albany Records and New Focus Recordings labels. One of the highlights of Gabe's career was his performance as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic in 2015. He performed the world premiere of a percussion concerto by composer Christopher Rouse, which was written specifically for him. The performance was widely praised by critics, who hailed Gabe's virtuosity and musicality. Gabe has also received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2012, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. He was also a recipient of the Juilliard School's Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music. Despite his many accomplishments, Gabe remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and compose music, always striving to push the boundaries of what is possible in classical music.
