Role:PerformerShippen Page was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Shippen showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Shippen's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division when he was just six years old. He studied under renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky and quickly became one of her star pupils. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Shippen won numerous competitions and awards, including the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition at the age of 14. He also performed as a soloist with several major orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After graduating from high school, Shippen attended the Juilliard School for his undergraduate degree, studying under the tutelage of Jerome Lowenthal. He continued to win competitions and awards, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. Shippen's career as a concert pianist took off after he won the gold medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2011. This competition is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world, and Shippen's victory solidified his place as one of the top pianists of his generation. Since then, Shippen has performed with major orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has also given recitals at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonie. In addition to his performing career, Shippen is also a dedicated teacher.
