Deian Rowlands is a Welsh classical pianist and composer who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 12, 1985, in Llanelli, Wales, Deian showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a natural talent and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. Deian's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. He began taking lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Eileen Pearce, who recognized his potential and helped him develop his skills. Deian's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became known for his technical ability and musicality. As a young musician, Deian participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning many awards and accolades. He won the National Eisteddfod of Wales Piano Solo Competition in 1999 and 2001, and the Welsh Young Musician of the Year Competition in 2002. He also won the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition in 2004, which brought him national recognition and launched his career as a professional musician. Following his success in the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, Deian went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he received a scholarship to study with renowned pianist and teacher, Christopher Elton. He also studied with other notable pianists, including Pascal Devoyon and Joanna MacGregor. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, Deian continued to win awards and accolades, including the prestigious Chappell Medal for Piano in 2007. He also performed in numerous concerts and recitals, both in the UK and abroad, and was praised for his technical ability and musicality. After completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Deian embarked on a successful career as a professional pianist and composer. He has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Wigmore Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Deian's repertoire is wide-ranging, and he is known for his interpretations of classical and contemporary music. He has recorded several albums, including his debut album, "Deian Rowlands Plays Liszt," which was released in 2010. He has also composed several pieces of music, including his "Piano Sonata No. 1," which was premiered at the Royal Festival Hall in London in 2012. In addition to his career as a performer and composer, Deian is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.
