Richard Bitzli was born on May 12, 1985, in Zurich, Switzerland. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Bitzli showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Bitzli's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, displaying a natural ability for the instrument. By the age of ten, Bitzli had already won several local competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigious young talent. In 1997, Bitzli was accepted into the prestigious Zurich Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the conservatory, Bitzli honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. After graduating from the conservatory in 2005, Bitzli began performing professionally, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most talented young pianists in Switzerland. In 2008, Bitzli was invited to perform at the International Piano Festival in Warsaw, Poland. His performance was met with critical acclaim, and he was awarded the festival's top prize. This marked a turning point in Bitzli's career, as he began to gain international recognition for his talent. Over the next few years, Bitzli continued to perform extensively, both in Switzerland and abroad. He played in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. In 2012, Bitzli released his debut album, featuring works by Chopin, Liszt, and Beethoven. The album was a critical and commercial success, cementing Bitzli's reputation as one of the most talented young pianists of his generation. In 2015, Bitzli was invited to perform at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland. His performance was met with standing ovations, and he was awarded the festival's top prize. This marked another milestone in Bitzli's career, as he became one of the youngest pianists ever to receive the award. In addition to his performing career, Bitzli is also a dedicated teacher and mentor.
