Alexej Gerassimez is a German percussionist and composer who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on August 18, 1987, in Essen, Germany, Gerassimez grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Prof. Peter Gerassimez, is a renowned percussionist and professor of percussion at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. His mother, Dr. Tatjana Gerassimez, is a pianist and musicologist. Gerassimez began playing the drums at the age of six and soon developed a passion for percussion instruments. He studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in percussion performance. He also studied composition with Prof. Nicolaus A. Huber and Prof. Michael Obst. Gerassimez's talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and accolades. In 2008, he won the German Music Competition, which is one of the most prestigious music competitions in Germany. He was also a finalist in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2010 and won the TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven, Netherlands, in 2014. Gerassimez has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.
