Stefania Passamonte is a renowned classical pianist, composer, and musicologist. She was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1979, and grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a composer and conductor, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Passamonte showed a natural talent for music, and she began playing the piano at the age of four. Passamonte's family moved to Italy when she was six years old, and she continued her musical education there. She studied at the Conservatory of Music in Milan, where she earned a degree in piano performance. She also studied composition and musicology, and she later earned a PhD in musicology from the University of Pavia. Passamonte's career as a pianist began to take off in the early 2000s. She won several international piano competitions, including the International Piano Competition "Città di Cantù" in Italy and the International Piano Competition "José Iturbi" in Spain. She also performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Passamonte is known for her virtuosic performances of classical music, particularly the works of Franz Liszt. She has recorded several albums of Liszt's music, including "Liszt: The Complete Piano Music," which was released in 2011. She has also recorded music by other composers, including Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. Passamonte is also a composer, and she has written music for piano, chamber ensembles, and orchestra. Her compositions have been performed by orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Passamonte is also a musicologist, and she has written several books and articles on music history and theory. In 2008, she was awarded the Premio Internazionale "Giuseppe Verdi" for her performances of Verdi's music. In 2012, she was awarded the Premio Internazionale "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli" for her contributions to the piano repertoire. Passamonte continues to perform, compose, and research music. She is a professor of piano at the Conservatory of Music in Milan, and she also teaches masterclasses around the world. She is known for her passionate and expressive performances, and she is considered one of the leading pianists of her generation.
