Born on 12th May 1980 in Vienna, Austria, Birgit showed an interest in music from a young age. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Birgit started playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She began taking formal lessons at the age of seven and continued to study music throughout her childhood. By the time she was a teenager, Birgit had already won several local music competitions and had performed in numerous concerts. After completing her high school education, Birgit enrolled at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist, Professor Franz Schmidt. During her time at the university, Birgit honed her skills and developed her unique style of playing. In 2002, Birgit graduated from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts with a degree in piano performance. She then went on to pursue a master's degree in music at the Juilliard School in New York City. While at Juilliard, Birgit had the opportunity to study under some of the most respected pianists in the world, including Emanuel Ax and Murray Perahia. Birgit's talent and hard work paid off when she won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005. The competition, which is held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Birgit's performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111, impressed the judges and earned her the top prize. Following her win at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Birgit's career took off. She began performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Her performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. In addition to her solo performances, Birgit has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has performed under the baton of some of the most respected conductors in the world, including Daniel Barenboim and Simon Rattle. Birgit's discography includes several critically acclaimed recordings, including her debut album, which features works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt.
