Operama Symphony Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2010 by a group of passionate musicians who shared a common goal of creating a unique and innovative approach to classical music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its dynamic and engaging performances that blend classical music with other genres such as rock, pop, and jazz. The founding members of Operama Symphony Orchestra were all accomplished musicians who had previously performed with various orchestras and ensembles. They included conductor and artistic director, Amy Andersson, violinist, David Chan, cellist, Eric Jacobsen, and pianist, Inon Barnatan. Together, they envisioned a new kind of classical music ensemble that would break down the barriers between different genres of music and appeal to a wider audience. The ensemble's first performance was in 2010 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where they performed a program that included works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as arrangements of popular songs by The Beatles and Radiohead. The performance was a huge success, and the ensemble quickly gained a following for their innovative approach to classical music. Since then, Operama Symphony Orchestra has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have also collaborated with a wide range of artists from different genres, including rock band, The National, jazz pianist, Brad Mehldau, and singer-songwriter, Rufus Wainwright. One of the highlights of Operama Symphony Orchestra's career was their performance at the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. The ensemble performed alongside artists such as Queen Latifah, Steven Tyler, and Aloe Blacc, and received critical acclaim for their performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. In addition to their performances, Operama Symphony Orchestra has also received numerous awards and accolades for their work. In 2012, they were awarded the ASCAP Foundation's Leonard Bernstein Award for their innovative approach to classical music. They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Crossover Album for their 2016 album, "The Beatles and Beethoven." The main members of Operama Symphony Orchestra have remained largely the same since the ensemble's founding, with Amy Andersson serving as the conductor and artistic director. Other key members include violinist, David Chan, who has previously served as concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and cellist, Eric Jacobsen, who is also the conductor of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Overall, Operama Symphony Orchestra has established itself as one of the most innovative and exciting classical music ensembles of the 21st century. Their unique approach to classical music has helped to break down the barriers between different genres of music and has introduced classical music to a wider audience. With their continued success and critical acclaim, it is clear that Operama Symphony Orchestra will continue to be a major force in the world of classical music for years to come.More....
