Zdenek Folprecht was born on May 12, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned cellist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Zdenek showed a keen interest in music and began playing the cello at the age of six. Zdenek's talent was quickly recognized, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. He won his first competition at the age of ten and went on to win numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2003, Zdenek was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of Professor Josef Chuchro. During his time at the conservatory, Zdenek continued to excel, winning several competitions and performing in numerous concerts. After graduating from the conservatory in 2007, Zdenek was accepted into the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Michal Kanka. During his time at the academy, Zdenek continued to hone his skills and develop his unique style. In 2010, Zdenek won first prize at the International Cello Competition in Liezen, Austria. This was a major milestone in his career, and it helped to establish him as one of the most promising young cellists of his generation. Over the years, Zdenek has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. In addition to his performances, Zdenek is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Zdenek's playing is characterized by its technical precision, emotional depth, and musicality. He has a unique ability to connect with his audience and to convey the essence of the music he is playing. In recognition of his achievements, Zdenek has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious Czech Music Prize, and in 2018, he was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace. Despite his success, Zdenek remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to push himself to new heights and to inspire others with his music.
