Janet Lyman Hill was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Hill showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Hill's love for music only intensified, and she began to explore other instruments. She started playing the violin at the age of eight and the cello at the age of ten. By the time she was in high school, Hill was already an accomplished musician, having won several awards and competitions. After graduating from high school, Hill attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied piano, violin, and cello. She excelled in all three instruments, but it was the cello that captured her heart. Hill's talent on the cello was undeniable, and she quickly became one of the most sought-after cellists in the country. Hill's career as a professional musician began in earnest in 2007 when she was invited to perform at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Festival.
