Vladimir Knijasev was born on May 15, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional pianists. From a young age, Vladimir showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Vladimir's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his mother, and by the age of six, he was already performing in public. Vladimir's parents also introduced him to other instruments, including the violin and the cello, but he ultimately decided to focus on the piano. As a child, Vladimir was a prodigy, and he quickly gained recognition for his talent. He won his first competition at the age of seven, and by the age of ten, he had already performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Russia. Vladimir's parents were his biggest supporters, and they made sure that he had access to the best teachers and resources. In 1996, Vladimir's family moved to the United States, and he continued his musical education at the Juilliard School in New York City. He studied with some of the most renowned piano teachers in the world, including Yoheved Kaplinsky and Emanuel Ax. Vladimir's talent continued to flourish, and he won several competitions and awards during his time at Juilliard. After graduating from Juilliard, Vladimir began performing professionally. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young pianists in the world, and he was invited to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Vladimir's most memorable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2008. He performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The New York Times called his performance "a revelation," and praised his "virtuosic technique and emotional depth." In addition to his performances with orchestras, Vladimir also gave solo recitals around the world. He was known for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, and his performances were always highly anticipated. Vladimir's talent and hard work were recognized with several awards and honors throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a solo career. He was also a recipient of the Gilmore Young Artist Award, which is given to pianists who show exceptional promise. Despite his success, Vladimir remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours every day, and he was always looking for ways to improve his playing. He was also passionate about teaching, and he often gave masterclasses to young pianists. Tragically, Vladimir's life was cut short when he died in a car accident in 2012. He was only 27 years old.
