He was the son of a baker and grew up in a family of six children. Alibert showed an early interest in music and began singing in local choirs and performing in amateur theatrical productions. In 1910, Alibert moved to Paris to pursue a career in music. He began performing in cabarets and music halls, and quickly gained a reputation as a talented singer and entertainer. Alibert's breakthrough came in 1913 when he was hired to perform at the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret. His performances were a huge success, and he quickly became one of the most popular singers in Paris. During World War I, Alibert served in the French army and was wounded in battle. After the war, he returned to Paris and resumed his career as a singer. In 1920, he recorded his first hit song, "Adieu Venise Provençale," which became a huge success in France and throughout Europe. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Alibert continued to perform and record music, becoming one of the most popular singers in France. He also began to act in films, appearing in several French movies in the 1930s. In 1937, Alibert was invited to perform at the Paris World's Fair, where he sang for an audience of over 100,000 people. The performance was a huge success, and Alibert was awarded the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors. During World War II, Alibert continued to perform and record music, despite the occupation of France by Nazi Germany. He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 and imprisoned for several months, but was eventually released. After the war, Alibert continued to perform and record music, and also appeared in several more films. He remained a popular entertainer in France until his death in 1951.
