Artist Info

The Sollazzo Ensemble is a classical music ensemble that specializes in the performance of medieval and early Renaissance music. The ensemble was founded in 2014 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for this genre of music and a desire to bring it to a wider audience. The founding members of the Sollazzo Ensemble were Anna Danilevskaia (vielle), Sophia Danilevskaia (voice), Perrine Devillers (voice), Vincent Kibildis (lute), and Anna Stegmann (recorders). All of these musicians had extensive training in early music and had performed with other ensembles before coming together to form the Sollazzo Ensemble. The name "Sollazzo" comes from an Italian word that means "pleasure" or "delight." This reflects the ensemble's mission to bring joy and beauty to their audiences through their performances of medieval and early Renaissance music. Since its founding, the Sollazzo Ensemble has performed at numerous festivals and concert series throughout Europe and North America. Some of their most notable performances include appearances at the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Festival Oude Muziek in Bruges, and the Boston Early Music Festival. One of the highlights of the Sollazzo Ensemble's career was their performance at the 2016 York Early Music Festival in England. This performance was particularly significant because it was the first time that the ensemble had performed in the UK, and it was very well received by both audiences and critics. In addition to their live performances, the Sollazzo Ensemble has also released several recordings. Their debut album, "Parle qui veut: Moralizing Songs of the Middle Ages," was released in 2016 and received critical acclaim. The album features a collection of songs from the 13th and 14th centuries that explore themes of love, morality, and social commentary. The Sollazzo Ensemble has also been recognized for their outstanding performances and recordings. In 2015, they were awarded the prestigious York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, which helped to launch their career and bring them to the attention of a wider audience. Overall, the Sollazzo Ensemble is a talented and dedicated group of musicians who are passionate about bringing the beauty and richness of medieval and early Renaissance music to modern audiences. With their exceptional performances and recordings, they have established themselves as one of the leading ensembles in this genre of music, and they continue to inspire and delight audiences around the world.
