He began taking private lessons with renowned violinists and quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy. In 1998, Boden was accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin School, a prestigious music school in Surrey, England. He also began to explore other genres of music, including jazz and folk. In 2007, Boden made his debut as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra.
