Trio Appassionata is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2002. The ensemble is made up of three members: pianist Alain Jacquon, violinist Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, and cellist Philippe Muller. The trio has gained international recognition for their performances of classical music, particularly works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. The founding of Trio Appassionata was the result of a chance meeting between Jacquon and Phillips-Varjabédian. The two musicians had both been invited to perform at a festival in France, and they were paired together for a performance of Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio. The chemistry between the two musicians was immediately apparent, and they decided to form a trio together. The two musicians began searching for a cellist to complete the ensemble, and they eventually found Muller. Muller was a renowned cellist who had previously played with the Orchestre National de France and the Trio Pasquier. He was impressed by the talent and dedication of Jacquon and Phillips-Varjabédian, and he agreed to join the trio. Trio Appassionata quickly gained a reputation for their passionate and dynamic performances. They were praised for their technical skill and their ability to convey the emotional depth of the music they played. The trio's repertoire included works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and John Adams. One of the highlights of Trio Appassionata's career was their performance at the 2004 Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. The trio performed Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio, which had been the piece that had brought them together in the first place. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and it helped to establish the trio as one of the leading classical music ensembles in Europe. In 2006, Trio Appassionata released their debut album, which featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. The album was well-received by critics, who praised the trio's technical skill and their ability to convey the emotional depth of the music. The album helped to further establish the trio's reputation as one of the leading classical music ensembles in the world. Over the years, Trio Appassionata has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. In addition to their performances, Trio Appassionata has also received numerous awards and accolades. In 2007, they were awarded the Diapason d'Or, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the classical music world. The award was given in recognition of the trio's outstanding performances and their contribution to the world of classical music. Trio Appassionata continues to perform and record music to this day. They have released several albums, including a recording of Beethoven's complete piano trios. The trio remains committed to bringing the beauty and emotional depth of classical music to audiences around the world.
