Teresa Tierney was born on May 12, 1985, in Dublin, Ireland. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. From a young age, Tierney showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of five. As she grew older, Tierney's passion for music continued to grow, and she began to explore other instruments, including the violin and the cello. She also began to study music theory and composition, and by the time she was a teenager, she had already written several pieces of music. In 2003, Tierney was accepted into the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist John O'Conor. During her time at the academy, Tierney also had the opportunity to perform in several concerts and competitions, including the Dublin International Piano Competition, where she won second place. After graduating from the academy in 2007, Tierney began to establish herself as a professional musician, performing in concerts and recitals throughout Ireland and Europe. In 2009, she was invited to perform at the prestigious Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Poland, where she received critical acclaim for her performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. Over the next few years, Tierney continued to build her reputation as a talented and versatile musician, performing in a wide range of genres, from classical to jazz to contemporary music. In 2014, Tierney released her debut album, "Reflections," which featured a collection of her own compositions as well as works by Chopin, Debussy, and other classical composers. The album received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including the Irish Album of the Year. Since then, Tierney has continued to perform and record music, collaborating with a variety of artists and musicians from around the world.
