Artist Info
Nova Ars Cantandi is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 in Madrid, Spain. The group is known for its exceptional performances of early music, particularly from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The ensemble has gained a reputation for its unique interpretations of these works, which are characterized by their attention to detail and historical accuracy. The founding members of Nova Ars Cantandi were a group of young musicians who shared a passion for early music. They were all graduates of the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, where they had studied under some of the most renowned early music specialists in Spain. The group's original members included soprano Ana Fernández-Vega, alto Marta Infante, tenor Juan Carlos Rivera, and bass Josep Cabré. From the beginning, Nova Ars Cantandi was committed to performing early music in a way that was faithful to the original sources. The group spent countless hours researching historical performance practices and studying original manuscripts in order to gain a deeper understanding of the music they were performing. This dedication to authenticity has been a hallmark of the ensemble's performances ever since. One of the highlights of Nova Ars Cantandi's early career was their performance at the Festival de Música Antigua de Aranjuez in 2006. The festival is one of the most prestigious early music events in Spain, and the ensemble's performance was widely praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. This performance helped to establish Nova Ars Cantandi as one of the leading early music ensembles in the country. Over the years, Nova Ars Cantandi has performed at many other prestigious festivals and venues throughout Spain and Europe. Some of their most notable performances include appearances at the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada, the Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza, and the Festival de Música Antigua de Gijón. The ensemble has also performed at many of the most renowned concert halls in Spain, including the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. In addition to their live performances, Nova Ars Cantandi has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Missa de la Batalla Escoutez," was released in 2007 and features music from the Spanish Renaissance. The album was praised for its technical excellence and its ability to capture the emotional depth of the music. Since then, the ensemble has released several other albums, including "Villancicos y Danzas Criollas" and "Música para el Corpus Christi en Toledo." One of the most significant moments in Nova Ars Cantandi's history came in 2012, when the ensemble was awarded the National Music Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. The prize is one of the most prestigious awards in the Spanish music industry, and it recognizes outstanding contributions to the country's musical heritage. Nova Ars Cantandi was honored for their dedication to early music and their ability to bring this music to a wider audience. Today, Nova Ars Cantandi continues to be one of the most respected early music ensembles in Spain. The group's current members include Ana Fernández-Vega, Marta Infante, Juan Carlos Rivera, Josep Cabré, and several other talented musicians.More....
