Boris Stepanov was born on May 15, 1985, in Moscow, Russia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Boris showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Boris received his formal music education at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned pianists in Russia. He graduated with honors in 2007 and went on to pursue a career as a concert pianist. Boris made his debut performance at the age of 18, playing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Boris received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing and musicality. Over the years, Boris has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, such as Valery Gergiev, Daniel Barenboim, and Simon Rattle. One of Boris's most memorable performances was his rendition of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in 2010. The performance was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and received widespread critical acclaim. The Guardian described Boris's playing as "spellbinding" and "mesmerizing." Boris has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition, where he was praised for his "technical brilliance" and "musical sensitivity." He has also been awarded the Chopin Prize and the Rubinstein Prize, among others. In addition to his career as a concert pianist, Boris is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, including the Juilliard School and the Royal Academy of Music.
