Ensemble Horizonte is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Berlin, Germany. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of classical and contemporary music, and its commitment to exploring new and innovative ways of presenting classical music to audiences around the world. The founding members of Ensemble Horizonte were violinist Anna-Lena Perenthaler, cellist Johannes Krebs, and pianist Florian Wiek. All three musicians had extensive experience performing in various classical music ensembles and orchestras, and they shared a passion for exploring new and unconventional approaches to classical music. From the beginning, Ensemble Horizonte set out to create a repertoire that combined classical masterpieces with contemporary works, and to present this repertoire in a way that was both engaging and accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The ensemble's performances often feature multimedia elements, such as video projections and lighting effects, that enhance the music and create a more immersive experience for the audience. One of the highlights of Ensemble Horizonte's early career was their performance at the 2013 International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. The ensemble's performance of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and contemporary composer Kaija Saariaho was met with critical acclaim, and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the most exciting and innovative classical music groups in Europe. Since then, Ensemble Horizonte has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious classical music festivals and venues in the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the most renowned classical musicians of our time, including pianist Martha Argerich and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In addition to their performances, Ensemble Horizonte has also been recognized for their contributions to the classical music world with a number of awards and honors. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik award for their album "Horizonte," which featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and contemporary composer Jörg Widmann. The album was praised for its innovative approach to classical music, and for the ensemble's virtuosic performances. Ensemble Horizonte's commitment to exploring new and innovative approaches to classical music has also led them to collaborate with artists from other genres, such as jazz and electronic music. In 2017, the ensemble collaborated with jazz pianist Brad Mehldau on a project that combined classical and jazz elements, and in 2019 they worked with electronic musician Max Cooper on a multimedia performance that explored the intersection of music and science. Despite their success and recognition, Ensemble Horizonte remains committed to their mission of bringing classical music to new audiences and exploring new ways of presenting this timeless art form. With their unique blend of classical and contemporary music, and their innovative approach to performance, Ensemble Horizonte is sure to continue to captivate audiences around the world for years to come.More....
