The Arensky Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1999. The trio is named after the Russian composer Anton Arensky, who was a student of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ensemble consists of three members: pianist Vadim Serebryany, violinist Nikita Borisoglebsky, and cellist Nikita Naumov. Vadim Serebryany was born in Moscow in 1976 and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and later at the Juilliard School in New York. Nikita Borisoglebsky was born in Moscow in 1987 and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and later at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Nikita Naumov was born in Moscow in 1982 and began playing the cello at the age of seven. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and later at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. The Arensky Trio has performed at major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. The ensemble has also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Salzburg Festival in Austria, and the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. One of the highlights of the Arensky Trio's career was their performance at the 2006 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. The trio won the Grand Prix and the Gold Medal, becoming the first piano trio to win the competition in its history. The trio's performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. The Arensky Trio has also received numerous other awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2003, the trio won the First Prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In 2004, they were awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which provides financial support and career guidance to young musicians. In 2010, the trio was awarded the Echo Klassik Award for their recording of Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A minor.
