Annette Kruisbrink is a Dutch classical music composer and guitarist who was born on May 19, 1958, in Enschede, Netherlands. She grew up in a musical family, with her father being a conductor and her mother a pianist. Kruisbrink started playing the guitar at the age of 11 and soon became passionate about it. She studied guitar at the Conservatory of Enschede and later at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she graduated with honors. Kruisbrink's compositions are influenced by various musical styles, including classical, jazz, and folk music. She has written numerous works for solo guitar, guitar ensembles, and chamber music ensembles. Her compositions are known for their lyrical melodies, intricate harmonies, and rhythmic complexity. One of Kruisbrink's most notable works is her guitar concerto, "Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra." The piece was commissioned by the Dutch Broadcasting Company and premiered in 1995 with Kruisbrink as the soloist. The concerto is a virtuosic showcase for the guitar, with fast runs, intricate arpeggios, and soaring melodies. The piece has been performed by numerous orchestras around the world and has become a staple of the guitar concerto repertoire.
