Artist Info
Adrian Viorel Petrutiu is a Romanian classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a pianist, conductor, and composer. Born on December 22, 1985, in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Petrutiu showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with some of the best teachers in the region. As a child, Petrutiu was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, from classical to jazz and pop. He was particularly drawn to the works of the great composers of the Romantic era, such as Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He spent countless hours practicing and studying their music, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already developed a deep understanding of their styles and techniques. In 2004, Petrutiu enrolled at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where he studied piano performance under the guidance of Professor Dana Borșan. During his time at the academy, he also began to explore other areas of music, including conducting and composition. He quickly proved to be a talented and versatile musician, and he soon began to attract attention from the local music community. In 2007, Petrutiu made his debut as a solo pianist, performing a recital of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Beethoven at the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Petrutiu's career as a concert pianist. Over the next few years, he performed extensively throughout Romania, playing in some of the country's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. In 2010, Petrutiu was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the world's leading conservatories. There, he studied piano performance with Professor Christopher Elton and conducting with Professor Colin Metters. He also had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including pianist Stephen Hough and conductor Sir Simon Rattle. During his time in London, Petrutiu continued to perform extensively, both as a soloist and as a conductor. He also began to gain recognition as a composer, with several of his works being performed by ensembles in the UK and Romania. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Club Prize for his composition "Fantasia for Piano and Orchestra." After completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Petrutiu returned to Romania, where he continued to perform and teach. He also began to expand his musical horizons, collaborating with musicians from a wide range of genres and backgrounds. In 2015, he founded the Cluj Chamber Orchestra, a group dedicated to performing classical and contemporary music in Romania and beyond. In recent years, Petrutiu has continued to build his reputation as one of Romania's most talented and versatile musicians. He has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Carnegie Hall in New York. He has also won numerous awards and accolades, including the Grand Prize at the 2017 Cluj International Piano Competition and the 2019 Romanian Music Awards for Best Classical Album. Today, Petrutiu is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative musicians of his generation.More....
