Birth:1980 in Jerusalem, IsraelBenjamin Hochman is a renowned classical pianist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1980, Hochman began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents, both musicians, recognized his talent early on and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Hochman's early musical education was in Israel, where he studied with Arie Vardi, one of the country's most respected piano teachers. He also attended the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he received his Bachelor's degree in piano performance. After completing his studies in Israel, Hochman moved to the United States to continue his education. In the US, Hochman attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky. He received his Master's degree in piano performance from Juilliard in 2004. While at Juilliard, Hochman won several awards and competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. After completing his studies at Juilliard, Hochman began performing extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed at major music festivals, such as the Ravinia Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Hochman's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert. He has recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Schubert's late piano works. In addition to his performing career, Hochman is also a respected teacher. He has taught at the Bard College Conservatory of Music and the Longy School of Music, and he currently teaches at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. Throughout his career, Hochman has received numerous awards and honors. In 2011, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. He has also been a recipient of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award and the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award.
