Karel Mitáš was a Czech classical music artist who was born on January 1, 1932, in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He was a renowned pianist, conductor, and composer who made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Mitáš began his musical journey at a young age, showing a natural talent for the piano. He received his first piano lessons from his mother, who was also a pianist. He was also a champion of contemporary music, performing works by Czech composers such as Bohuslav Martinů and Leoš Janáček. He served as the principal conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra from 1970 to 1978, and later as the principal conductor of the Prague Symphony Orchestra from 1981 to 1986.
