Philharmonisches Streichsextett is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1990 in Berlin, Germany. The ensemble is made up of six members, all of whom are accomplished musicians in their own right. The members of the ensemble are: - Rainer Sonne, violin - Andreas Willwohl, violin - Andreas Willwohl, viola - Andreas Willwohl, cello - Andreas Willwohl, double bass - Andreas Willwohl, piano The ensemble's main focus is on performing chamber music, particularly works for string sextet. They have become known for their interpretations of works by composers such as Mozart, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, among others. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was their performance at the 1994 Salzburg Festival. They were invited to perform as part of the festival's chamber music series, and their performance was met with critical acclaim. The ensemble was praised for their technical skill and their ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music. In addition to their performance at the Salzburg Festival, the ensemble has also performed at other major music festivals around the world, including the Edinburgh International Festival and the Lucerne Festival. They have also toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. The ensemble has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 1996, they were awarded the Echo Klassik award for their recording of Brahms' String Sextets. They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards for their recordings.
