The Busch Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012. The trio consists of three members: Mathieu van Bellen on violin, Ori Epstein on cello, and Omri Epstein on piano. The ensemble is named after the famous Busch Quartet, which was active in the early 20th century. Mathieu van Bellen was born in the Netherlands in 1988 and began playing the violin at the age of five. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has won numerous awards, including the Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. Ori Epstein was born in Israel in 1987 and began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and has won several awards, including the Aviv Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. Omri Epstein was born in Israel in 1986 and began playing the piano at the age of seven. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has won several awards, including the Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the Worshipful Company of Musicians' Prince's Prize. They have also performed at numerous festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. One of the highlights of the Busch Trio's career was their performance at the BBC Proms in 2016. They performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Thomas Søndergård. The performance was highly praised by critics, with The Guardian describing it as "a performance of great warmth and intimacy." The Busch Trio has also released several recordings, including an album of works by Schubert and an album of works by Dvořák. Their recordings have received critical acclaim, with Gramophone magazine describing their Schubert album as "a performance of great depth and sensitivity." In 2016, the Busch Trio was awarded the Kersjesprijs, a prestigious Dutch music award. The award is given annually to a young ensemble or musician who has made a significant contribution to the Dutch music scene. Overall, the Busch Trio is a highly acclaimed classical music ensemble that has made a significant impact on the international music scene.
