Ensemble 2E2M is a contemporary classical music group based in Paris, France. The group was founded in 1972 by Paul Méfano, a composer and conductor who sought to create a platform for new and experimental music. The name "2E2M" stands for "École d'Été de Musique de l'Est Parisien," which translates to "Summer School of Music in Eastern Paris." The ensemble began as a summer school for young musicians, but quickly evolved into a professional ensemble that performed and recorded contemporary music. The group's repertoire includes works by both established and emerging composers, with a focus on music that pushes the boundaries of traditional classical music. Over the years, Ensemble 2E2M has performed at major festivals and venues around the world, including the Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Venice Biennale, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in the UK. The group has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including choreographers, visual artists, and writers. One of the highlights of Ensemble 2E2M's career was their performance of Karlheinz Stockhausen's "Gruppen" in 1978.
