Artist Info
The Eisler Quartett is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over two decades. The quartet was founded in 1995 in Berlin, Germany, by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a unique sound that would set them apart from other ensembles. The founding members of the Eisler Quartett were Jürgen Fehlings (violin), Susanne Rabenschlag (violin), Andreas Arndt (viola), and Matthias Bauer (cello). All four musicians had extensive experience playing in various orchestras and ensembles before coming together to form the Eisler Quartett. They named their ensemble after the German composer Hanns Eisler, who was known for his contributions to the development of modern music. From the very beginning, the Eisler Quartett was committed to exploring the full range of chamber music repertoire, from classical to contemporary works. They quickly gained a reputation for their innovative interpretations of well-known pieces and their willingness to take risks with lesser-known compositions. Their dedication to their craft paid off, and they soon began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and concert halls around the world. One of the highlights of the Eisler Quartett's early career was their performance at the 1998 Salzburg Festival, where they received critical acclaim for their interpretation of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14. This performance helped to establish the quartet as one of the most exciting and dynamic ensembles in the classical music world. Over the years, the Eisler Quartett has continued to build on their success, performing at major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of our time, including pianist Martha Argerich and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In addition to their performances, the Eisler Quartett has also been recognized for their recordings. They have released several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete string quartets of Béla Bartók. Their recording of the Shostakovich String Quartets was also highly praised, and earned them the prestigious Echo Klassik award in 2006. Throughout their career, the Eisler Quartett has remained committed to their original vision of creating a unique sound that blends tradition with innovation. They continue to push the boundaries of chamber music, exploring new repertoire and collaborating with other artists to create unforgettable performances. Their dedication to their craft has earned them a place among the most respected and admired ensembles in the classical music world.More....
