Duo Teres is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, violinist Teresita de la Torre and pianist Teresa Escobar. The duo has gained recognition for their exceptional performances and unique interpretations of classical music pieces. Teresita de la Torre, born in Mexico, began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She has won numerous awards and competitions, including the first prize at the National Violin Competition in Mexico and the International Violin Competition in Vienna. Teresa Escobar, born in Colombia, started playing the piano at the age of five. She studied at the National University of Colombia and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She has also won several awards and competitions, including the first prize at the National Piano Competition in Colombia and the International Piano Competition in Vienna. The two musicians met while studying in Vienna and quickly discovered their shared passion for classical music. They decided to form a duo and named it Duo Teres, combining their first names. Duo Teres has performed in various prestigious venues around the world, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have also been invited to perform at several international music festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival in Austria and the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. One of the highlights of Duo Teres' career was their performance at the 2018 International Chamber Music Festival in Mexico City. They received a standing ovation from the audience and were praised for their exceptional interpretation of Beethoven's Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 9 in A major, Op. 47, also known as the "Kreutzer Sonata." In addition to their performances, Duo Teres has also released several recordings, including their debut album "Teresita & Teresa" in 2016. The album features works by Mozart, Brahms, and Piazzolla, among others.
