Carlos Krause was born on May 12, 1985, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Krause showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Krause's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. Krause continued to excel in his studies and was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City at the age of 16. At Juilliard, Krause studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. He quickly established himself as a rising star in the classical music world, winning numerous competitions and awards. In 2005, he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, cementing his place as one of the world's top pianists. Krause's career took off after his win at the Van Cliburn Competition. He began performing regularly at major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall. He also collaborated with some of the world's top orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Krause's performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He was known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music, creating a powerful and moving experience for his audiences. His repertoire included works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. In addition to his performances, Krause was also a dedicated teacher. He taught master classes at Juilliard and other music schools around the world, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of musicians. He was known for his patient and encouraging teaching style, inspiring his students to reach their full potential. Throughout his career, Krause received numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his win at the Van Cliburn Competition, he was also awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Gilmore Artist Award. He was also inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 2012. Despite his success, Krause remained humble and dedicated to his craft. Tragically, Krause's life was cut short when he passed away in a car accident in 2017. He was only 32 years old.
