Birth:1988 in Quebec, CanadaVincent Lauzer is a Canadian recorder player and conductor who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative programming. Born in Quebec City in 1984, Lauzer began playing the recorder at the age of eight and quickly showed a talent for the instrument. He went on to study at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, where he received a Master's degree in recorder performance. Lauzer's career as a professional musician began in earnest in 2007, when he won first prize at the Stepping Stone competition for young musicians in Canada. This led to a series of high-profile performances, including appearances at the Montreal Baroque Festival and the Boston Early Music Festival. In 2012, Lauzer released his debut album, "The Triumphant Harp," which featured works by Handel, Telemann, and other Baroque composers. Since then, Lauzer has become known for his innovative programming and collaborations with other musicians. In 2014, he founded the ensemble Flûte Alors!, which specializes in music for recorders and other wind instruments. The group has performed at festivals and concert series across Canada and Europe, and has released several critically acclaimed albums. Lauzer's solo career has also continued to flourish. In 2017, he released "J.S. Bach: Sonatas for Flute and Harpsichord," a recording of Bach's sonatas for flute and harpsichord that was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. The album was nominated for a Juno Award, Canada's top music prize, and Lauzer was named "Classical Artist of the Year" at the Prix Opus awards in Quebec. In addition to his work as a performer, Lauzer is also an accomplished conductor. He has led several orchestras and ensembles, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre Métropolitain. In 2019, he was appointed artistic director of the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival in New Brunswick, Canada. Throughout his career, Lauzer has been committed to expanding the repertoire for the recorder and promoting the instrument's versatility and expressive potential. He has commissioned and premiered numerous works by contemporary composers, and has collaborated with musicians from a wide range of genres and traditions. Lauzer's performances are characterized by his technical mastery, musical sensitivity, and infectious enthusiasm for the music he plays. He has been praised for his ability to bring out the unique qualities of the recorder, from its delicate sweetness to its powerful, resonant sound. His performances are a testament to the enduring appeal of classical music and the recorder's place in the rich and diverse world of early music.More....
