Greg Danner is a contemporary classical music composer who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on August 22, 1960, in the United States. Danner grew up in a musical family, and his parents were both music educators. His father was a band director, and his mother was a choir director. Danner's parents encouraged him to pursue music from a young age, and he began playing the trumpet when he was in the fourth grade. Danner's interest in music continued to grow throughout his childhood, and he went on to study music at the University of North Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1982 and a Master of Music degree in 1984. During his time at the University of North Texas, Danner studied composition with Joseph Klein and David Bithell. After completing his studies, Danner began his career as a music educator. He taught music at various schools in Texas, including the Plano Independent School District and the Lewisville Independent School District. Danner also served as the Director of Bands at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas, from 1991 to 2001. Throughout his career as a music educator, Danner continued to compose music. His compositions have been performed by numerous ensembles, including the Dallas Wind Symphony, the United States Air Force Band, and the United States Army Band. Danner's music has also been featured at various music festivals, including the Midwest Clinic and the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. Danner's compositions are known for their intricate harmonies and complex rhythms. He often incorporates elements of jazz and popular music into his classical compositions, creating a unique and modern sound. Danner's music is also characterized by its emotional depth and expressive melodies. One of Danner's most well-known compositions is his "Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble." The concerto was commissioned by the United States Air Force Band and premiered in 2003.
