Laszlo Hadady is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on December 22, 1942, in Budapest, Hungary, Hadady grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Hadady's parents recognized his musical talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Hadady began his musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned musicians such as Ferenc Rados and Gyorgy Kurtag. He graduated from the academy with honors in 1966 and went on to pursue further studies in Paris, France, under the guidance of Pierre Boulez. Hadady's career as a professional musician began in 1968 when he joined the Ensemble Intercontemporain, a Paris-based contemporary music ensemble founded by Pierre Boulez. Hadady played the oboe in the ensemble and quickly established himself as one of the leading oboists of his generation. He remained with the ensemble for over a decade, during which time he performed in numerous concerts and recordings. In addition to his work with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Hadady also performed as a soloist and chamber musician. He collaborated with many renowned musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, violinist Gidon Kremer, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Hadady's performances were highly acclaimed, and he received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. One of the highlights of Hadady's career was his performance of Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C Major with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1984. The performance was conducted by Herbert von Karajan and was widely regarded as one of the finest interpretations of the concerto. Hadady's performance was praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Hadady's other notable performances include his rendition of Bach's Oboe Concerto in D Minor with the English Chamber Orchestra in 1979 and his performance of Stravinsky's Octet for Wind Instruments with the Ensemble Intercontemporain in 1979. He also performed in numerous festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, and the Berliner Festwochen. In addition to his performances, Hadady was also a respected teacher and mentor. He taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Many of his students went on to have successful careers in music. Hadady's contributions to the world of music were recognized with numerous awards and honors. He was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 1985 and was made an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 1996. He was also awarded the Prix de la Critique Musicale in 1997 for his recording of Bach's Oboe Concertos. Sadly, Hadady passed away on December 17, 2018, at the age of 75. His death was mourned by the music community, and he was remembered as a brilliant musician and a kind and generous teacher. Hadady's legacy lives on through his recordings and the many musicians he inspired and mentored throughout his career.
