He was born in the town of Breslau, which is now known as Wrocław and is located in modern-day Poland. Necke showed an early interest in music and began studying piano and composition at a young age. Necke's musical education continued at the Leipzig Conservatory, where he studied under the renowned composer Felix Mendelssohn. After completing his studies, Necke worked as a conductor in various German cities, including Bremen, Königsberg, and Danzig. Necke's early compositions were heavily influenced by the Romantic style of his time, and he wrote a number of works for orchestra, including several symphonies and overtures. One of his most famous works from this period is his Symphony No. 1 in D minor, which was premiered in 1868 and received critical acclaim. In addition to his work as a composer, Necke was also a respected conductor.
