Rosen Ovtcharov is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born on May 12, 1985, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ovtcharov showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Ovtcharov's musical education began at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Stella Dimitrova. He later continued his studies at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance. During his studies, Ovtcharov participated in numerous competitions and won several awards, including the First Prize at the National Piano Competition "Svetoslav Obretenov" in 2001 and the Second Prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy in 2004. After completing his studies, Ovtcharov continued to hone his skills and expand his repertoire. He participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Lazar Berman, Boris Berman, and Jerome Rose. He also performed in various concerts and festivals in Bulgaria and abroad, including the Sofia Music Weeks Festival, the International Festival "Varna Summer," and the International Festival "Ohrid Summer." In 2008, Ovtcharov moved to the United States to pursue further studies at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. There, he studied under the guidance of Professor Boris Slutsky and received his Graduate Performance Diploma and Artist Diploma in Piano Performance. During his time at Peabody, Ovtcharov won several awards, including the Yale Gordon Concerto Competition and the Peabody Chamber Music Competition. Ovtcharov's talent and dedication to his craft have led him to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. He has also given recitals in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Royal Festival Hall in London. One of Ovtcharov's most notable performances was his debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2010, where he performed Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The Baltimore Sun describing Ovtcharov's playing as "dazzling" and "virtuosic." Ovtcharov has also received praise for his interpretations of the works of Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Sergei Prokofiev. In addition to his performances, Ovtcharov is also a dedicated teacher and has served on the faculty of the Peabody Preparatory School and the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. He has also given masterclasses in Bulgaria, the United States, and China. Throughout his career, Ovtcharov has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to the world of classical music. In 2012, he was awarded the Order of Stara Planina, one of the highest honors in Bulgaria, for his achievements in the field of culture. He has also been a recipient of the Peabody Career Development Grant and the Presser Foundation Award.
