Ronald Borror was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on August 22, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio, to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Borror showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Borror's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons and quickly progressed, displaying an exceptional ability to play complex pieces. By the age of 12, he had already won several local competitions and was considered a prodigy. In 1948, Borror was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Rosina Lhévinne. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1952 and went on to pursue a Master's degree at the same institution. Borror's talent and dedication to music were evident from the start of his career. He won several prestigious awards, including the Naumburg Award in 1954, which recognized his exceptional talent as a pianist. He also won the Leventritt Competition in 1956, which cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. Throughout his career, Borror performed extensively in the United States and Europe, collaborating with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras of his time. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 1955, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. He also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra, among others. Borror's repertoire was vast and included works by some of the most celebrated composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. He was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, which he performed with great passion and virtuosity. In addition to his performances, Borror was also a respected teacher and mentor. He taught at the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Michigan, among other institutions. He was known for his dedication to his students and his ability to inspire them to reach their full potential. Borror's career was not without its challenges. In 1962, he suffered a severe injury to his right hand, which threatened to end his career. However, he persevered and underwent extensive rehabilitation, eventually regaining his ability to play. He continued to perform and teach for many years, inspiring generations of musicians with his talent and dedication. In recognition of his contributions to the world of music, Borror received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1987, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Ronald Reagan, which is the highest honor given to artists and arts patrons by the United States government. He was also inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 1998. Ronald Borror passed away on December 23, 2013, at the age of 81. His legacy lives on through his recordings, which continue to inspire and delight music lovers around the world. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest pianists of his generation, whose talent and dedication to music touched the hearts of millions.
