Quatuor Elyséen is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 in Paris, France. The group is composed of four members, including violinists Sarah Chenaf and David Petrlik, violist Julien Decoin, and cellist Yannick Callier. The ensemble has gained recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music, and has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world. The founding members of Quatuor Elyséen met while studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a quartet. The group took its name from the Elysian Fields, a mythological paradise in Greek mythology, which represents the ideal of beauty and harmony that the ensemble strives to achieve in their music. Quatuor Elyséen's repertoire includes works from the classical and romantic periods, as well as contemporary compositions. The group received critical acclaim for their interpretation of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, which was described as "a revelation" by Le Figaro. The ensemble has also performed at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Lincoln Center in New York City. In addition to their performances, Quatuor Elyséen has also received numerous awards and accolades. The group was awarded the Prix de la Fondation Charles Oulmont in 2007, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in France. They were also finalists in the 2009 International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan, and the 2011 International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux, France.
