Born in Brazil in 1963, Gallo began his musical journey at a young age, showing a natural talent for the piano. He began formal training at the age of six, studying with renowned Brazilian pianist, Olga Kiun. Gallo's talent quickly became apparent, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, he had won several national and international competitions, including the prestigious Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition. In 1981, Gallo moved to the United States to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, he studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue, Adele Marcus. He also had the opportunity to work with other notable musicians, including conductor Leonard Bernstein and pianist Vladimir Horowitz. After completing his studies at Juilliard, Gallo embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also given recitals in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall. Gallo's repertoire is vast and includes works by many of the great composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and has recorded several of Villa-Lobos's works. In addition to his performing career, Gallo is also a respected teacher and pedagogue. He has taught at several universities, including the University of Iowa and the University of Miami. In 2000, he joined the faculty of the University of North Texas, where he is currently a professor of music. Throughout his career, Gallo has received numerous awards and honors. In 1985, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians. He has also been a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residency.
